As a young child I had a love of playing the piano. My mother and grandmother bought my first toy piano at the age of three and purchased the piano that I still play on today at the age of five. I began taking lessons from my mother for a year and then I began taking private professional lessons at the age of five until I was a senior in high school. I won various Piano Guild competitions with ratings of superior musical skill. At the age of thirteen I became the musician for my high school and church youth choir. Now that I am an adult having taught music for 30 years, I have a greater understanding of music and the gift that was given to me as a child. Giving piano lessons is my way of being thankful and giving to others what God has given to me so generously.

The study of music has many benefits which provide a child with a nurturing foundation for a strong development in character. Children who study music excel in other areas such as Math, History, and English. It also provides a sense of discipline which cultivates good study habits. Children also develop coordination and expression while increasing self-esteem. God has given each of us gifts and talents that will bring Him glory. It is our responsibility to recognize these gifts in our children at an early age and provide them with the tools to develop them skillfully. If given the opportunity, children will develop a love for playing the piano and improve their confidence and produce meaningfulv "Heart Felt Music."
